What We Do
Cross Border
The project aims to ensure all young people involved gain new creative ICT skills in digital technologies, such as Internet Authoring to enable them to update a web site containing information on youth provision and facilities in Derry and Inishowen in Donegal. It also aims to ensure the young people gain new skills in desktop publishing to enable them to produce a newsletter containing information of interest to young people 16 – 25 in both areas. Digital music will also be a major component!
The project will challenge and dispel preconceived ideas and misconceptions about "other communities", flags & symbols, stereotyping and will promote community relations principles of Equity, Diversity & Interdependence throughout. Two Murals will be designed and created by the young people (with help from local artists) depicting images of the young people's ideas on cross border co-operation. This project will be of benefit to local community and youth organisations as 'users' of the Bytes centre and local community groups can use the web site as a information point. The young people involved will also gain elements of CCEA occupational studies accreditation in digital media. To promote cross border cooperation between young people form both sides of the religious & border divides.
